Drivers sponsored by Maxxis powered over every obstacle in their path to take wins at the 2010 W.E.ROCK opener, held March 27-28 in Oroville, California. Troy Bailey won the Pro Modified class, while Dan Patterson took the victory in the Stock Modified class.
Bailey said that his Trepadors came through for him in tough conditions. “They did really well,” he said. “Everyone was trying their hardest to get through the mud, but I didn’t have to worry about that at all. It wasn’t even a competition when I hit the mud. I didn’t spin my tires one time, and I went exactly where I wanted to go. I’ve never been in mud that deep; it was kind of quicksandy.”
His victory has fueled Bailey’s optimism about the coming season: “This was a really difficult competition, among the hardest I’ve ever been in, and we did really well. If you can win the opener, it takes a lot of stress off the rest of the year. It’s my goal win every one of them. We’re absolutely going to try to sweep the series.”
Patterson, who rode Creepy Crawlers, also said his Maxxis tires helped him to the top of the podium. “There was rough going for us. It was pretty hard on the car. There wasn’t a lot of traction, but the tires worked well,” he said. “There were lots of sharp rocks and everything, and we didn’t really have any problems. We were able to climb a couple of things that the other teams couldn’t, and we were the only team on Maxxis in our class. I feel really confident about the rest of the season. I think we’re going to pull off a championship.”
Maxxis congratulates Troy Bailey and Dan Patterson and thanks them for choosing the brand of champions.
